This book was written in 2017 with the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the discovery of directed evolution. The Nobel prize in Chemistry 2018 has been awarded to Prof. Frances Arnold, and more than never, this book is a a tribute to pioneers of this thrilling research field, while providing a comprehensive overview of current research and the state-of-the-art.
